Singapore Writers Festival (1-10 Nov)

Started in 1986, the annual Singapore Writers Festival has an intriguing theme this year: Utopia/Dystopia. The featured writers are Singaporean poet and novelist Cyril Wong, French film-maker and novelist Catherine Breillat, Singaporean theater director and dramatist Natalie Hennedige of Cake Theater, and American transmedia artist Ryan Gattis. The 10-day festival centers at Singapore Management University’s Campus Green, but spreads out to The Arts House, the National Museum of Singapore, the Singapore Art Museum, and the National Library. Check the website for programs and tickets.

SP recommends meeting Nobel Prize-winning novelist Gao Xingijan.
